Miss Magnolia Scholarship Pageant
Plans are being finalized for the Miss Magnolia Scholarship Pageant with a grand entry theme for the contestants. Applications are being taken now and continue until Friday, January 26. Orientation is scheduled at Ashelynn Manor on Thursday, February 1, at 7:00 PM.
The Magnolia Area Chamber of Commerce sponsors the pageant to provide a venue for girls to compete for scholarships totaling $2300.00. Other prizes will be awarded with a special gift package for the winning Miss Magnolia. Junior and senior level girls residing within the Magnolia school district or within any district contiguous to the Magnolia boundaries are eligible to compete.
The winning contestant will represent the Magnolia area and the Chamber throughout the year. Miss Magnolia may also carry the title to other competitions she may choose to enter.
State Representative Rob Eissler is serving as this year’s emcee for the event. Natalie Chumley, Chicago Title, again serves as pageant director.
CHAMBER’S VEHICLE RAFFLE MODIFIED, CONTINUED
Those people who purchased a Ford Mustang raffle ticket from the Magnolia Area Chamber of Commerce have an even better chance to win now. So do all future buyers of raffle tickets.
The Chamber was to have held the vehicle raffle drawing in December, but, as mentioned on the tickets, the Board of Directors opted to delay the drawing since not enough tickets were sold to cover the cost the new car. Board members have voted to continue the drawing but to drop the number of tickets sold to 500 rather than the original 1000 tickets. Therefore, chances of winning the Mustang have improved to 1 in 500 for each ticket sold.
Board Chair Debbie Lambert says that tickets are available from any board or staff member. Call the Chamber office, 281-356-1488, or email the Chamber, info@magnoliatexas.org, to obtain tickets or clarify information.
